Pet Microchips - protecting pets in Surrey

In 2016, it became a legal requirement to microchip all dogs in the UK. Cat microchipping has now been made compulsory and all cats over 20 weeks old will need a microchip by the 20th June 2024.

Weybridge Vets recommends microchipping your pet as early as possible during their lifetime. The microchip can be implanted during an ordinary consultation and we often complete this during your pet's first vaccination appointment.

Microchips are often compared to a grain of rice in size which then contains a unique identity. After implantation, our team will register your details against this code on the national database - it is then the owner's responsibility to keep these details up to date.

If you are unsure if your pet has a microchip, book an appointment with our team who can scan them for an active microchip.
